ENTREVISTA A ELVENKING

1- And well, to start I'm interested about the new material for the third
album, what can you tell me about it?


Ø Well, when I was back in the band a bunch of new songs were ready. Then me and Aydan worked a lot together and finished the songwriting for the album. In these days we are quite busy recording the tracks but I must tell you that the songs rock! Can't wait for the album to be released J

2- When I was hearing Heathenreel for the first time i was thinking "yeah! that guys aren't bad at all, they have a good future" but after hearing Seasonspeech I thought "O my god! This guys are incredible!" Seasonspeech is maybe your best song, it is fresh, strong a very enjoyable, do you agree with that? What are your favourites Elvenking's songs?


Ø Yeah, I think that Seasonspeech remains one of our best compositions. My other favourite songs are Pagan Purity, Hobs an' Feathers, The Silk Dilemma and A Poem for the Firmament.

3- Sometime after hearing Heathenreel I knew that Damnagoras was out of the band and I Though " What?!Why?! He's great, why is he out of Elvenking?" I thought that it would be very difficult to sustitute Damangoras, you found Kleid ,who was a good singer, but he doesn't have Damnagora's feeling.


Ø Well thanks for this! The good thing is that now, we all feel a great feeling between us..and we are writing the best songs we've ever made! That's the main thing!

4- When Wyrd was released I run to the shop and bough it, It sound less stong than Heathenreel, but it has more elegance, the violin and keyboard has much more importance in this album, what do you think about it?


Ø I agree with you! In my opinion the new album will have both features. The songs are strong and catchy but they have this "elegance" you say, with great violin arrangements, orchestrations and folkish acoustic instruments.

5- If Heathenreel has Seasonspeech, WYRd has A Poem For The Firmament, a song that has all the elegance that Seasonspeech demand, but it doesn't hast Seasonspeech strong, a mixture of both tracks would be an incredible song, is there something like that in the new material?


Ø The new album will also have a song in that vein..it won't be so long, but in my opinion it can well be put together wth Seasonspeech and Poem. Maybe it's more direct and less complicated.

6- When are you planing to release the new album?


Ø Since we are going to mix it in June I think that it won't be released before this Fall.

7- I think you have sign for one or two years more with AFM, is it like that?


Ø Our contract forsees 2 albums plus 2 options. Our new album is the first of the 2 options.

8- And now a very important thing, are you going to play any gigs in Spain? You have a lot of fans here...


Ø We hope so!!!!

9- Going to past again, when you recordered To Oak Woods Bestowed, did you think that you would get a contract with such an important label?


Ø Ehehe of course not! We were very surprised at the time!

10- Heathenreel is a bit irregular album it has some songs that are great like To Oak Woods Bestowed. Conjouring the 14th, Oakenshield or specially Seasonspeech but there are other songs that aren't as good as the rest, Wyrd hasn't got this problem, all the songs are in a similar level, except A Poem for the firmament which is one step forward, that a good thing because shows that you're getting better as songwritters.


Ø Well Heathenreel was our first album and Wyrd is for sure more mature, since we as persons, grew up. But our new album will be much more mature than both of them, since lots of things happened and we are not kids anymore ! :) We have achieved some experience through the years and the songwriting was much more intense than in the past.

11- After Wyrd's release you had some problems in the band, did you think any time about disolved the band?


Ø You should ask this to Aydan. But I know that after the release of Wyrd the band had great problems and I know for sure that Aydan had the thought of disbanding Elvenking more than once. They reached a point in which something had to be done. And you all have seen what happened then!

12- To finish tell some words to the fans.


Ø I really hope to see you soon on stage!! May the winds blow fair at your backs!!
